Beat The Affiliate Marketing Statistics And Find Out How Not To Fail Online

Judging by general affiliate marketing statistics it almost looks as though people are trying to fail on purpose! Of course this is not true, but nonetheless, the failure rate in online affiliate businesses is worryingly high.

The good news is that it is not as high as it used to be, and the statistics show that as many as two out of ten people now succeed online, whereas it used to be around one in twenty.

The trouble with statistics is that it very much depends on how you define success, and we do not know what on what terms these statistics are based. Some people may be glad to earn $100 month online, and for them that would be success, but these people would probably not be included on the list of successes.

Success is really very personal, and we should not pay too much attention to the statistics that we often see online. Those who are successful usually have a specific goal and are able to reach it, whether that goal is $100 a month, or $100,000.

There are, in fact, a high number of people who are earning a full time income as affiliate marketers.

So, if it really is possible to succeed on the net, why do so many people still struggle, and what can you do to make sure that you achieve your online business goals?

Here are some of the reasons why people fail:

1. Not having their own website. Many affiliate companies offer replicated websites for their members to use, but while this is a good way to get started, it is not a good strategy for success unless you can drive massive amounts of traffic to it. In order to achieve real success, you must have a separate website with unique content.

2. Not building a list. The cornerstone of success for top affiliate marketers is to capture names and email addresses for future follow up. A high number of people do not recognise the importance of this strategy and therefore set themselves up for failure.

3. Not using the products they are selling. Writing a review for a product or service you have not used is not only difficult, but many people will sniff out such inauthenticity. If you use the products you are selling, and really love them, your passion and enthusiasm will give you a huge advantage over your competitors. If you know what you are talking about, people will recognise this and be able to trust you, which will bring you more sales.

4. Jumping from one affiliate program to another. Because affiliate programs are free to join it is far too easy to jump from one to another, believing that the more you have the more money you will make. This is a mistake that many people make – and a trap that I have fallen into myself!

In reality, it is far better to focus on one or two products to start with and wait until you are making money on that before you move on to others.

5. Not generating enough targeted traffic. It may be basic common sense, but unless you get enough visitors to your website you will not make any sales. It is very important to be aware of your website traffic and create strategies to improve your traffic through various internet marketing techniques. Thanks to improved online training, more people are getting good traffic to their sites than used to be the case.

If you want to fail in your online business, these five strategies are the way to go! However, if you want to be amongst the top percentile of successes in the affiliate marketing statistics, you need to make sure you are not making these five mistakes.
